Stupid rules
well...
I think it's stupid to demand someone to make a post, even if it's a "dash", just to vote.
I think if someone creates a poll, the more people voting the better will be the result
I am sure that I don't want to waste my time trying to figure out why I cannot vote.
and yes.. I did a post and could not vote....
I think it's not polite to make such a statement
I will not be a better person if I vote, it will not bring me any advantage...
I *just* want to help promote Firebird, wich is a great product... but if it's too difficult (and I am the only one who can tell what *I* consider difficult) I will just give up...
best regards...

You can't vote because the polls have already closed. The results will be announced momentarily.

Just have a look and you'll notice many people registered just to vote for Firebird. I have nothing against Firebird, but it seems they were asked to, which makes for an unfair poll.

There's nothing unfair about that. Asking people to vote for <whatever> in <whichever poll> is a perfectly acceptable practice both on and off the Internet. Why, it even happens in politics ;-) People are still free to cast their vote for any candidate they choose, aren't they? Or not to cast their vote at all.
If I hadn't been "asked to vote" a number of years ago, I still wouldn't know that these polls existed. Would that have been more fair?

Maybe not unfair, but the results get disproportional, and we can't know what most users really prefer.
