New to Linux: Switching from Cruddy W8

I'm a student of Computer science, and have had it with Windows 8. I am switching to linux. I have everything set up, my compiler, some nice scripts, environment vars to call em with, and maintanence tools (which I love that linux is so low-maintanence!!!!!!!)

So far, it is HEAVEN compared to windows 8 (all day mainanence, compared to 5 minutes... yeah, it's lovely)!
