Password protection for a particular application

Greetings all!

I am using Linux Mint 14 Nadia with the MATE GUI and I was wondering if there is any way to set a password prompt for an application when trying to open it. In particular I mean the Chromium web browser. The final goal is for instance to have Chrome opening freely without any credentials needed, but Chromium to be password protected. I hope I made it clear, thanks in advance, cheers!

I can only think of creating a script that decrypts (after initially encrypting of course) /usr/bin/chromium and encrypts when the app closes.

Change the ownership of the Chromium binary to a separate user and the use a tool like gksu to start it as that user with password input.
