wmctrl has an option
-m that tells about your window manager.
My Linux Mint-15 Cinnamon workstation says that the window manager is "Muffin" or "Mutter". It seems that
muffin is the Mint or Cinnamon fork of the Gnome window manager
mutter. It has been used since Cinnamon v1.2 according to Wikipedia.
