Lost Root Password

Hello, I am entirely a newbie to Linux, and I have been forgotten my root password. I have googled lost root password, but I have been unable to get the tutorials to work. They all talk about 'Single User Mode,' which I have unable to enter. I took this video of the computer starting up. I hope it will give you enough specs about the computer.

At your lilo boot prompt, type in:
Code:
linux single
press enter

You should get to a root prompt (#) and then you can change the password with:
Code:
passwd
Hope it helps!

PS; this only works if your root(/) partition is unencrypted.

Thanks for the speedy reply. I don't know what a distro is, sorry, but coralfangs solution worked fine.

Thanks!

You could have also used sudo from an appropriate user to reset your root password.
