lp -U <username> Support in solaris 10

Would anyone know of a package or source code package which I can install or build a new BSD Unix print command (lp) with the -U option?

Natively Solaris 10 doesn't have the -U option and it will be greatly appreciated if anyone can provide a pointer or location to achieve getting a lp -U <username> -d <printer> <filename> command to work in solaris 10.

Thanks in Advance,
Neil

I believe you can use su - to run as a different user.

So something like this :
Code:
#su - userName -c "lp -d printerName fileName"

Thanks for that tip, I should of been more clearer in my reason for asking.

The purpose is to achieve sending a username which is not local to a windows AD print queue that has Papercut (Find/follow me style printing).

I can successfully do this under linux, but some machines I have are on Solaris 10 which is a requirement for certain applications and licenses.

You can install and configure the SUNWcups package from the companion CD to get "lp -U" support. Or upgrade to Solaris 11 with which it is the default.
