Question How do I get Linux Mint 11 to save open applications when I shut down?

Hello everyone.

How do I get Linux Mint 11 to save open applications when I shut down? I tried the option in Ubuntu Tweak but it is not working.

Please help. Thanks.

Hibernate and suspend never work properly for me in Linux. I always used to go to Ubuntu Tweak and check the "remember open apps..." box under Sessions. This must be a bug since it is not working now.

I've just had a quick look at http://forums.linuxmint.com/ and there are over a thousand posts about hibernation! Have you tried to find if there's an answer? It seems a distro-sensitive thing: my second-hand Thinkpad came with Ubuntu and wouldn't hibernate. I switched, first to Fedora, then to Saxix, and they both worked.

Hello,

I use LMDE (Linux Mint Debian Edition) 64-bit with the latest Liquorix kernel (2.6.38-7.dmz.1-liquorix-amd64) and 'Suspend' works perfect on my Compaq Presario CQ62. Just tried it to confirm, leaving browser open, conky script, Skype, Evolution and a movie. Suspended very fasts and came back with the exact same windows, positions, no changes or hangups whatsoever.

Kind regards,

Eric

Exclamation

I've always had my open programs saved without using hibernation/suspend for many distros of Ubuntu. I've used either Ubuntu Tweak or startup applications options tab both are ineffective now. There must be a bug that is preventing this now. I'd rather not tamper with hibernation/suspend as they've never been straight forward with Linux.
