A doubt in ubuntu site :https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LinuxLogFiles

I have a doubt in a the below section of the ubuntu site: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LinuxLogFiles
Section where I have doubt (marked in blue):
Quote:
System Logging Daemon (syslogd)
Configuration of syslogd
Echoing Messages to syslogd With Logger
Log Rotation
The last sentence of the section writes:
Quote:
So, as you can see, we received the messages both via standard error, at the terminal prompt, and they also appear in our syslog.
But I say it's only standard output and not standard error as the above line mentions.

Not sure what your question is. Please clarify.

Sorry for not being clear.
See, the last sentence of the section says that the messages were received via standard error but it's clear from the script (which is in the same section, please go through it) that the messages weren't received via standard error but via standard output.
Please correct me if I have mistaken somewhere in my understanding the script.

Did you read the man page on logger???

The script very clearly runs logger with the -s and -T flags. There is output to BOTH listed.

TBOne, thanks. Oh!, (my fault)I should have checked the logger command first. The logger command / options weren't clear to me, so I had the doubt. The man page clarifies the point.
