Angry linux wi-fi setup.

I have recently decided to upgrade my laptop to linux. I thought the 2 that best met my needs were Ubuntu and Mint. I set-up both for usb stick boot. They both worked fine until I tried to setup wi-fi.I have checked numerous site trying to find help. They will mostly make it sound easy, but no go. I have tried several but I don't even get radio icon. In answer to the question that will be asked yes I tried fn/f2 keys with no success
By the way the distros were 13.04 for Ubuntu and 15 for mint.

I have a dell latitude with broadcom bcm4318 chipset. I would hate to go back to Xp but have no other options since I only have wireless access for my laptop. It worked fine on XP but I get absolutely no respose on either distro. Any help would be appreciated

In theory, b43 should work fine for that chipset. You just need to get the firmware installed in order for the driver to work.

Use the link that Timothy sent you and it will work! Make sure that you have the correct driver!

Hi,

You are sure the wireless has been enabled? Newer Dell Laptops do have a wireless control key, most are Fn-F2. On Dell Laptops the wireless is off by default.
