graphical interface not starting up on login shell

hi ,

I installed mint 15( mate ) a few days ago . i used to get a graphical interface asking my user name and password on start up.

But recently i am getting only my terminal , i login and use startx to kick off my gui .

why is this happening . is there a way to fix this .

i added startx to the .profile file and it seems to be working now . but don't know if tats a correct fix

I added the command startx in the ,profile file and it works fine now . is tat the correct solution

Hmm, try installing 'mdm' again.
