Installing fonts with FON extension under Ubuntu/Debian?
Hi,
The conventional way is to simply copy them into ~/.fonts
While it works flawlessly well with ttf files, it looks like there is no way with monospace fonts with FON extension.
Any help welcome!
Sincerely,

<name>.fon may not be a font ?
Please use the file command : <name>.fon
According to this, suffix .fon is a "font file", not a font ?

Fonts with the .fon extension are Windows bitmap fonts. Linux uses pcf fonts. If you really want a bitmap font, you can convert using Fontforge.

Fontforge sounds good. sure I need fon
I have yesterday googled for a font big database to get few, but I couldnt find any. FON is used mainly by gvim under windows, since it cannot read ttf.
I might look for dev font type and try to fontforge them, as you advice.
I let you know the progresses...
Thanks
