[SOLVED] Informative, colourful textual boot (mint17/ubuntu14.04) ?

Im running linux mint 17 which is based off ubuntu 14.04 and I was curious if there was any way to get my system booting in a simmilar manner to knoppix:

I've tried looking around, but all I'm getting is how to configure GRUB, or using usplash/plymouth but I cant really find where I would get a colourful text based boot similar to the knoppix one I just linked.

Does anybody have any any idea of how to achieve this? Ubuntu and Knoppix are both debian based, so I don't think it should be TOOO difficult.

Shut off Plymouth? A way to test this is to remove the "quiet" and "splash" options inside your GRUB configuration...

I dont use plymouth.

I should have elaborated, that updating grub does show text, but its all white on a black background.

Im curious about how to make the text colourful and show importance/success and failures through the text colours (green is success, red is failure), similar to the way its displayed on a distro like knoppix.

My bad. I would suspect Knoppix uses some type of specialized bootup script to provide the nifty colors...

Doesnt bash.rc refer to the colours in a terminal emulator window, as opposed to the boot text? Or is there a similar configuration for the boot text?

My apologies it would be for the terminal & console, not sure if it affects any parts of grubs boot process.

No body have any idea how knoppix's boot up is different to debians/ubuntus ?
