Getting google earth in my menu

I hope this is the right place to ask the question as I couldn't figure out where else to go.

I just installed google earth and the installer did not put an icon anywhere in my menus. How do I get an icon on the desktop, say, a symlink?

Many thanks in advance.

What desktop environment are you using? If it's Gnome 2, there is an "Edit Menu" item somewhere in the menu, I think under "Preferences." I can't remember how to add desktop icons; I don't use them myself.
