D-Link DWL-G520 on Debian - "unable to attach hardware; HAL status 13"
Hey everyone,
Preamble: I'm running Debian 3.0 with a custom 2.4.24 kernel. I got the cvs version of madwifi from a few days back.
I'm trying to get my D-Link AirPlus XtremeG DWL-G520 network card working on my computer. I'm pretty sure this is possible because I've read other posts about people who've done it, like ack_ in "Trying to setup DWL-G520 -> Problems with ath_pci.o." In fact, I'm using almost the exact same system configurations as ack_.
lspci shows my ethernet card like this:
00:0f.0 Ethernet controller: Unknown device 168c.0013 (rev 01)
Subsystem: D-Link System Inc: Unknown device 3a13
Flags: medium devsel, IRQ 11
Memory at d7000000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=64k]
Capabilities: <available only to root>
I load in wlan and ath_hal (from madwifi) fine using modprob.
wlan: 0.7.3.1
ath_hal: 0.9.5.3 BETA (Sam Leffler <sam@errno.com>)
ath_hal also gives me a fun message about how it will taint my kernel because it's proprietary software :-).
The problem happens when I try to modprob ath_pci.
ath_pci: 0.8.5.1 BETA
PCI: Found IRQ 11 for device 00.0f.0
PCI: Sharing IRQ 11 with 00.07.5
ath%d: unable to attach hardware; HAL status 13
ath_pci: No devices found, driver not installed.
/lib/modules/2.4.24/net/ath_pci.o: init_module: No such device
Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters
/lib/modules/2.4.24/net/ath_pci.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.24/net/ath_pci.o failed
/lib/modules/2.4.24/net/ath_pci.o: insmod ath_pci failed
I no idea what's causing this problem. If you have any solutions or hints please reply before I dash my brains upon the rocks. Thanks
