redhat hat 7.2 on toshiba laptop hang problems

i have successfully installed redhat 7.2 on my toshiba satellite cdt 1625 laptop. it works but hangs every now and then. i noticed that it hangs when the fan turns on. is this a common problem with redhat 7.2 on laptops or is this justmy machine. your help would be appreciated.

i think it has to do with the power management on the toshiba - i'm almost certain that the kernel has a special workaround for it - but it's probably not compiled into the stock redhat kernel.

does anyone have a kernel xconfig handy so they could answer this more explicitly? i think it's in the genral config.

I think Isajera nailed it. Does this sound about right?

thanks

thanks isajera. i am also trying to upgrade the bios for the toshiba satellite. toshiba satelliteproducts
of the 1600 series manufactured between february to september 2000 have been reported to have
problems detecting heat.

there have also been reports about memory allocation problems where the computer hangs.
see http://growltiger.net/~mike/toshiba1695.html
