RH7.3 and smbmount as normal user

When using RH 7.2 you could (After setting the suid bit on /usr/bin/smbmount) as a normal user mount an smb share with the following command

smbmount //server/share /mnt/server

With RH7.3 when i do that i get the following error (After setting the suid bit)

libsmb based programs must *NOT* be suid root.
1644: Connection to server failed
SMB connection failed

When i leave the suid bit it tells me to set it

How about adding the entries to fstab so that users can use mount?

libsmb ERROR!!!! i figured it out. This is for those who need help.
I've only tried this on RH8.0

if you're trying to mount folders with a user (not root) then:

chmod 4777 /path/to/smbmnt (usually it's "/usr/bin/smbmnt")

Then,
make sure that you

chmod 700 /path/to/smbmount and
chmod 700 /path/to/smbumount

Finally,

go to preferences and make sure that you are mounting to the default folder:

/tmp/mnt/

It should work after that.
