no sound cd-player

I'v got a SBlive7.1 24bit (separate card) on mobo AsusP5GD1
I have good sound via Streamtuner (xmms) but can't play CD's.
KsCD runs, connects with the internet, but no sound.
With my old compu with ens_1371 there was an input channel
for the CD-player on alsamixer, which I don't have now.

updated Slack-10.1 with 2.6.11.11 kernel and alsa-driver-1.0.9rc4a.

Did not know about digital output possibility.
Anyhow xmms is playing my CD's now.
And in the meantime I discovered that KsCD can do the same.
