Question need big help, on adsl internet connection


hello,

i got a problem with adsl internet connection on mandrake 10.
uhhhh......... i have 2 ethernet cards, 1 onboard via and 1 pci realtek.
i'm trying to work with linux now for about 6 days.....so don't think i know much .
it tells me i got no network connection in the bottom right with a !.
oke you understand me?
uhhhh.......pffffff....it's hard to explain....i used the wizard about a zillion times now......but nothing changes........i'm desperate!!!!
but the strange thing is.......when i connect to my modems webinterface.....it does work.....so the network works..........you follow me?

i got a speedtouch510 modem......powered by tiscali adsl by kpn.

need more info........plz tell me......and explain how i can get the info.......and i will give it 2 you.........

oke if somebody can help me..........thx

ok I am taking that u got the drivers for ur modem working and in Holland I am taking that u r using pppOe in which case
in a terminal window
adsl-setup follow on screen questions
then adsl-start/adsl-stop

uhh......my modem works with pppOa.......and it's connected with eth0.....
i don't know commands in linux......i got linux now about a week .......so i really don't know anything.........

check whether you have the pppoe rpms installed

rpm -qa|grep pppoe

run adsl-setup.

ok if its pppOa then u need to know if ur drivers are installed
wot is the output of ifconfig -a
u need to type this in a terminal window
this will then reply after the command with ur ethernet set up
tiscali are a very hard broadband/adsl modem to configure
how far have u got with ur set up?
