replacing Backtrack 5 with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS from USB on laptop

I currently have a laptop running Backtrack 5 that I would like to wipe clean and replace with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. I have the Ubuntu .iso file downloaded to a USB. What would be the best way to go about getting rid of Backtrack 5 and successfully install Ubuntu in its place?

The ubuntu installtion iso will erase the current installation, if you already made usb bootable.
If you haven't copy iso somewhere on computer, download unetbootin then let it put iso on usb for you.
To find the iso on computer there is a button in unetbootin with "..." on it select this button to find location of iso.

You can also use the dd if=path/to/iso of=/dev/disk1 bs=1m

Replace /dev/disk1 with the disk you want to "burn" to. To find out what disk, run diskutil list, and find the usb name that you want to use. Next to it you will see the disk number and path. Replace that with /dev/disk1. (It should be /dev/disk1 or /dev/disk2 etc)

This works only for distributions that are using the hybrid-iso format. Ubuntu unfortunately is not one of them.
