Introducing myself

Hello:

I'll try to introduce myself the best I can.

Two years ago, in a chat, a friend told me that if I'd like to try Linux I could give Ubuntu a try. After some hesitation, I installed Xubuntu, and it worked quite well. So now I was "one of those Linux freaks".

Then I learned that Xubuntu is a derivative of Debian, so I went and tried Debian myself. I wanted no intermediaries between me and the mother OS. Debian also worked quite well with my laptop.

I have lots of respect for Ubuntu and the Debian projects for introducing me to the Linux world.

Finally, I heard of Slackware, and like most of its design policies seemed quite logical to me, I've tried it, even after having been warned a lot of times that Slackware "is Linux" and that "I'll learn Linux with it". I must admit that it's been a big step from Debian. I wasn't aware of how deep the Linux world is. I've managed to slowly put this "replicant" OS to obey my orders, but except in one thing: it refuses to print

Aaand so, like I've heard this is the forum where most of the Slackers come to, here I am, looking for help (hey, you can help me even if you don't use Slackware ).

I bet that you can guess now what my next post will be about. Please forgive my egoistical interest in this Linux forum; I promise I'll return any help ...the best I can.

Long life to Slackware and Linux!

Hi and welcome to LQ, looking forward to your participation. When you get Slackware down then you may want to try LFS.
