Under System Settings->Desktop->Desktop Effects, I have "enable desktop effects" unchecked. Other than that, I'm (basically) using the default settings, with things like the theme changed around some. I haven't made any really serious changes that I can imagine causing this problem.
I keep getting this error message, over and over again in ~/.xsession-errors:
