iceweasel won't start

I have just installed iceweasel but it won't start...type iceweasel in console & nothing happens, there is a pause & I get the command prompt again. Try to start from the menu kde start menu icon & I get the bouncing 'attempting to start' icon until it times out then nothing.

No error message, & nothing logged in dmesg.

Dpkg-query -s reports status installed OK.

Can anyone help?

Thanks.

Try starting it in safe mode:
iceweasel -safe-mode if that doesnt work try creating a new profile iceweasel -profilemanager

What the.....

I just entered the above in the reply box & clicked "post quick reply" then suddenly I was switched to a different website: http://www.barcodeandlabeling.com/?s...FRJkWAodBhb5Ww

Are we being subjected to some crappy pop-up (or rather switch'n'bait) advertising here or is something weird going on???

Run this from inside an XTerm (or something):

Code:
/usr/lib/iceweasel/firefox-bin

It appears it can't find a lib file:

Code:
crashedagain@Desktop:~$ /usr/lib/iceweasel/firefox-bin
/usr/lib/iceweasel/firefox-bin: error while loading shared libraries: libmozjs.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
this file IS present in /usr/lib/firefox/

I have since installed both swiftfox and iceape and both work. Just firefox is giving problem.

I had this problem last night after doing a fresh install and trying to aptitude install firefox, which pulled down firefox and iceweasel. (Not used Debian for a while and I forgot about the change) In the end I fixed the problem by aptitude removing firefox and iceweasel, and just installing iceweasel.
