pppd error

I'm a newbie running Mandrake 9.2 and am trying to connect to the internet using my Samsung CDMA phone (with modem). The driver for linux makes use of a .ppprc script. When I run pppd I get the following error:

pppd: In file /etc/ppp/options : unrecognized option 'dev/modem'

Can anyone tell me how to fix this?

Thanks!

"pppd: In file /etc/ppp/options : unrecognized option 'dev/modem'"

If dev/modem is not a typo in your post then your problem is that it should be /dev/modem.

Well, I'm using ADSL, and I dont use the SuSE default options file, BUT in that file there is the option "modem", which is apparently some sort of default, so you might want to make a backup and just change "dev/modem" to say "modem" and give that a go...

Sorry I can't be a little more definitive

you probably need a symlink from /dev/modem to whatever your
dialing device is.

ln -s /dev/XXXX /dev/modem
