Yum 2.6 for RHEL4; or apt?

I wanted to try Yum 2.6 for RHEL 4, and after running make install I tried to run it, only to get the following error:

Quote:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/bin/yum", line 28, in ?
import yummain
File "yummain.py", line 24, in ?
import cli
File "cli.py", line 29, in ?
import output
File "output.py", line 27, in ?
from yum.misc import sortPkgObj
ImportError: cannot import name sortPkgObj
Tried to find info on it but to no avail. I suppose I did something wrong? Or is it because its not compatible, like some mentioned in the forums.

Meanwhile, how do I remove application (in this case, yum) from the system. Just delete the files it installed?

lastly... compared to apt.. is it better/more suitable to use it for rhel4?

rhel doesn't use yum, so afaik doesn't have any yum repositories to download stuff from. the onyl angle i'd take is that centos DOES use yum, so you could take centos4's yum rpm's and repos and most likely overlay them onto rhel without much difficulty.
