Xbox 360 Controller - CentOS

I have an Xbox360 controller which doesn't seem to work with CentOS 5.3, do I need to compile a newer kernel or is there an RPM I can download which contains the module that I need?

I think you need this driver enabled in the kernel config:

Code:
  ┌───────────────────────── X-Box gamepad support ─────────────────────────┐
  │ CONFIG_JOYSTICK_XPAD: │
  │ │
│ Say Y here if you want to use the X-Box pad with your computer. │
│ Make sure to say Y to "Joystick support" (CONFIG_INPUT_JOYDEV) │
  │ and/or "Event interface support" (CONFIG_INPUT_EVDEV) as well. │
  │ │
│ For information about how to connect the X-Box pad to USB, see │
  │ <file:Documentation/input/xpad.txt>. │

│ To compile this driver as a module, choose M here: the │

  │ │
  │ Symbol: JOYSTICK_XPAD [=m] │

there are also these options that you might want:

Code:
  │ │<M> X-Box gamepad support │ │
  │ │[*] X-Box gamepad rumble support │ │
  │ │[*] LED Support for Xbox360 controller 'BigX' LED │ │

Try with "...centos.plus" kernel from centosplus repository, it should be compiled with all modules and drivers.

I use 2.6.18-128.7.1.el5.centos.plus.

centosplus repository is turned off by default, so to install centos.plus kernel either enable centosplus repository in /etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-Base.repo, or use
Code:
yum install <kernel name> --enablerepo=centosplus
