Why does nspluginwrapper not show up?
 

I am running RHEL 5 and am having difficulty installing flasplayer for the 64-bit version of firefox. I have read many posts saying that I need to simply run nspluginwrapper on the 32-bit plugin. I have followed all of the installation instructions but when I try to run nspluginwrapper I get nspluginwrapper: Command not found. Does anyone know why I might be getting this error?

It sounds like you just don't have nspluginwrapper installed. It's the kind of thing that isn't normally included as part of a basic system and so needs to be installed manually. I'm sure it's available somewhere in the RHEL repositories.

If you're certain you have it installed, it might not be in your path. It depends on how you installed it (from rpm or source).

I do believe that it is installed because if I try to reinstall the files I get a message saying that it is already installed. I installed it from an rpm file. How can I check to see if it is in my path? If it is not in my path how would I add it?

On CentOS the nspluginwrapper command is "mozilla-plugin-config". I'll assume it's the same for RHEL5.

The problem is that it is not recognizing nspluginwrapper as a valid command.

I'm having the same issue.Yum reports that nsplug* is installed, however I noticed that the "/mozilla/plugins-wrapped" sub-directory is populated with other plugs. I also noticed that there's no executable "nspluginwrapper" - I searched and couldn't find it[?]. I'll try un-installing it and then do a re-install.


On side note: This is the single most important plugin and with a growing number interested in Linux, it's sad that Adobe/Flash hasn't advanced the install process! I realize it comes down to $ and perhaps after 1000's of people complain maybe they'll streamline the installation. Until terminal commands are eliminated for install, issues like this will discourage new users... [stepping down from soapbox]
