I had the same problem with DELL's Server Assistant, I thought it was a registeration issue with RHEL4, still really don't know what it way. I bypassed the Server Assistant and installed directly. Yes this means no support from DELL. Maybe somebody could shed more light into this.

Dell's Problem

Dell's problem is that they need to establish a baseline to write their Mgt Util against. So basically what they did was hardwire into their install a check to make sure you have the _BASE_ version of RHEL. No updates will work!

Having said that, some idiot over in dell forgot to let the users know about this.

Just burn yourself a set of CDs of RHEL4 -BASE-, upgrade after the initial install and you'll be fine.

fell free to contact me direct: username ** at google's mail **

So you are saying Dell SA will recognize the RHEL if I give it a RHEL-BASE cd. Then after I install the base, I just go ahead and upgrade it to full? Well I can't just try it now, the server's already running, maybe next upgrade or a crash will let me try it out. anyway thanks for the info.

Yes

That's exaclty what we had to do: install RHEL v4 -BASE- and then upgrade from there. hope this helps.
