Whitebox updates for RHEL 3??

I have a full copy of RHEL 3 WS that i am using on my web server, but I'm waiting to activate my RHN subscription until I'm ready to go live...

My question is... Is it possible to use White Box Enterprise updates and apply then to RHEL??? Not "can I" as in, is it ethical/legal... "Can I" as in.. will it work??

If not.. than would it be feasible to just download the sources for the updates from RH and aply then that way??

If you plan on activating the RHEL 3 subscription, I'd avoid trying to install rpms from another distribution (although White Box is RHEL 3 Based)....If you ever called Red Hat for a strange problem with your system and they see that you've installed rpms from somewhere else, they'll ask you to remove the non Red Hat rpm's and replace them with rpms from Red Hat Network to see if the problem clears up...depending on the nature of the problem and the number of non-Red Hat packages installed, you may be asked to install the system and up2date it using all of Red Hat's rpms. The second situation is a worst-case scenario but it's something to keep in mind.

You can download the .src rpms if you want, but be prepared to spend many hours updating the system and chasing down dependencies once the rpms are built

well I just downloaded a few of the .src.rpm files from the website... I ran "rpmbuild --rebuild filename.src.rpm" and it ran threw the steps and it appears as though this process also installs the rpm correct? Because i went to where it build the rpm under /usr/src/x/x/x whatever... and I tried to install it but it said it was already at that version.. if that's all i have to do.. it's not so big of a deal... once i download the whole big set of updates... and install them.. i can just use the up2date applet to tell me when i need to go download another .src file can't i?? if i'm correct at what I'm thinking... which many-a-cases I am not... than it won't be so hard...

Anyone elses input is much appreciated...
