Where can I download the build-essentials package for RHEL 4?

I'm trying to get the build-essentials package and google only lists results for ubuntu, not red hat. Thanks.

RedHat maybe does not call it the same thing?

What do you find in the RedHat official repositories? Which version of RedHat are you using?

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4. I am trying to install AMANDA, a backup solution for linux and when I do './configure' it says it doesn't recognize my computer. I read "build-essential" package would allow me to do run the configure file.

OK....did you look in the RHEL4 repositories? (Using the package manager). (I think you must be subscribed to do this.)

Do you have a paid subscription to RHEL4? If not, then it may be better to get CentOS (free clone of RHEL) or any of the other top (free) distros
