What is .Trash-root?

Hello,

What is .Trash-root directory in Redhat? Is it like Recycle bin of Windows?

Thanks.

"What is .Trash-root directory in Redhat? Is it like Recycle bin of Windows?"

Yes, except in Linux you have a Trash for root and each user. The Trash bins are confidential trash bins.

Thanks!

Is it by default set to go there, rather than get deleted permanently? If so, I would have to delete it twice to actually reclaim hard disk space.

I use command line, not GUI.

Appreciate any pointers..

The command line commands do not use the trash bin. In KDE a user can set a universal default for GUI programs to either use or not use the trash bin. I think the same is true for Gnome.

Thanks man!

That's what I thought. But, I found a lot of junk in .Trash-root, and I became confused. I must have done it long time back when I was using GUI..

Appreciate your answer.
