what are the very basic packages to make a cd bootable.?.
Hello friends,
I am in a class project where i have to create a custom live cd. I searched all the forums but i need to know this thing specifically.
what is the minimum files required to make a cd bootable( which ofcourse must be expanded later by adding more utility packages).
Currently i have no CD RW so i am not daring to waste CDR's in this process.but soon i will buy.
Doesn't that dd if=blah of=blah stuff creates only a rescue disk.
Help me pals as any "create ur own live cd" article when followed make me miss one or two packages( and sometimes entire directories )
I m now using RHEL4 WS . and most articles refer slackware or mandriva as their base.
My immediate need is to make just a bootable disk with minimal features ie. no ethernet/Xserver/stuffs . just i need the bootdisk with basic commands like cd,ls,pwd working. this is my phase one of the project.phase 2 is adding that x server and all.
P.S) feel free to correct me if i am planning in a wrong way.and please refer me some redhat based livecd creation tuts if u r aware of.
P.S 1) I already refered LFS and google resulted things. Is there any other search engine specifically ran for linux?
Thanks a lot pals.
