volume management library functions on Linux

Does Linux have volume management library functions like libvolmgt on Solaris 8 (with some utility functions: volmgt_check, media_findname, etc.)? If not, how can I implement such functions on Linux?

Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Luu Vo.
