Using USB devices in RH9

I have an SD reader that I would like to have working on my RH9 system. Is there a good HOWTO on doing this, especially for Red Hat 9 or something? Also, it there a way to poll the USB port to get information about the device?

hello,
i assume this is compact flash card reader that can read sd cards, for me as soon as i plugged mine in is was automatically mounted while running a redhat kernel. it was mounted at /mnt/flash - if you need information about it usbview may help.

I've heard about people who have done this and had it mount automatically. Mine isn't doing that at all. A quick trip down to the /mnt directory shows nothing at all. A look in fstab shows nothing either... and this is RH9.

I assume here that Red Hat doesn't support this Buffalo/Melco SD card reader, but I was wondering how one could tweak Linux to do such a thing...
