Using /etc/mail/access to allow certain hosts to send us mail
Hi,
We have been using /etc/mail/access to deny SPAM sources from sending us SPAM. We recently started using a mail filtering service, which works much better. But, occasionally, we still receive SPAM from servers connecting to our local mail server via its IP rather than using DNS. What can we do in /etc/mail/access or maybe /etc/mail/deny, that will only let the mail filter servers and no one else, send us e-mails? Cheers, Geoff |
More info please. Are you using Postfix or Sendmail?
What version of RHEL and your mail programs? |
Hi Ian,
It is a Redhat 9 server running sendmail 8.12.8. Cheers, Geoff |
I'm not really a sendmail expert - I far prefer Postfix (if you're just starting out, you should consider swapping).
See if this site helps you out :- http://www.lugoj.org/docs/rbl.html |
Hi Ian,
Unfortunately we can't change the MTA. It really has to be sendmail. Anyone else got any ideas about this? Cheers, Geoff |
