User wants to allocate more than 3Gb memory space in RHel5

I have a server running RHel5 with 4 Gb memory. One of my users is running a program that is failing when it tries to allocate more than 3Gb of memory for the process (he is trying to load large images into his process space).
Is there a way to allow his process to allocate any more memory?

thx

Is you CPU 32 or 64 bit ?
Same question for your O/S.

Then you are stuck. 32 bit can address at most 4 GB and the Linux kernel reserves 1 GB of it.

By the way, this is unrelated to the installed RAM size. These figures are virtual memory, not physical.
