upgrading in 7.3

well i bought rh7.3 when it had first came out to support the team, but over the years i have been using other things so now that i realize that i don't like fedora and i might as well use 7.3 since i bout it, i am running into some problems.

mainly i can't seem to upgrade gtk and glibc and they are critical because i am an avid user of firefox and azureus's bittorent. also alot of new progs. are being developed in these platforms.

now before ya tell me to go search around (which i did), i used tried to install the packages manually and for some reason, the older versions seem to be the only ones that work. i used apt-get and yum also, which supposedly successfully updated, and they still sis something wrong as i have run into tyhe same problems.

so as there is a lack of uniformity in linux, i even got the source code, recompiled it, and then installed (tar and rpm) and yet i had the same prob. i am not all that great with linux as i am still learning but i use it more than my other OSes. i am gong to buy a book, but in the mean time, that is why i love this forum.

Maybe i am not detailed enough, so if that is the case ,tell me and i will tell you more but until then, can ne 1 help? and sorry about the bad typing, i am in a rush, it is storming bad over here (power may go out).
