Hi, and welcome to LQ

You can use a Live-CD to boot, mount your root partition and edit or delete root's .bashrc

Regards

And next time you can try adding some user to root group so you can recover without Live CD (Or regular DVD in "linux rescue" mode).

You could try su'ing to a different shell
Code:
su -c /bin/tcsh -
(or whatever shell you have available other than sh or bash) or alternately boot from a livecd and fix the files/passwords whatever the problem is yourself.

What is happening when you attempt to login or su to root?
