trying to dual boot with redhat 9 and windows xp

hiya

i know basically how to setup a dual boot system. what i have at the moment is a red hat bootable system from floppy and a windows xp(default)

id quite like the auto loader so i can choose between them as i dont like floppies.

problem is i have a gigabyte GA-8KNXP board. with 2 SATA hard drives. striped in raid 0. using Silicon Image SATA driver 3x12. now redhat cant detect those so i installed it on a back up 5 gig partion on one of my ATA drives. i guess it made it the primary boot partition and then i installed windows. cos windows cant read linux format it maked the partition inactive.

so the problem is this. what i need is aboot loader that can reside on a ntfs or linux partion. problem is neither os can work with the others disk.. if u see what i mean?

or can i config the boot.ini file to add a secondary opton pointing to the ide hard disk?

any help woulld be much apreciated if it means a reinstall of red hat thats fine cos its a fresh install

thanks in advance

magick

A boot loader always resides in the boot-sector of a hard disc - at least as far as I know.

You could install lilo from linux and boot both of your systems with it.

I posted something that could help you about setting up this bootloader and which could help you.
