Stil mounting problem in linux to windows partitions

I have installed kernel-module-ntfs-2.6.9-5.EL-2.1.20-0.rr.4.10.i686.rpm and after that i checked that if linux supports the ntfs with the command cat /proc /filesystems and there it doesnot show any ntfs support. What to do now?

As far as my knowledge.. You will have to recompile your kernel by enabling ntfs support.

Hello friend,

If you have downloaded the right Kernel NTFS Module RPM which is bearing the same kernel version and type as your original kernel have then you need not worry.

Just type in these commands:
Issue the command when logged in as 'root':

mount -t ntfs 'device name' 'mount directory'

'device name'= It can be /dev/hda1, /dev/hda5 or if you have SATA /dev/sda1, /dev/sda5
Check that out in the HARDWARE BROWSER SECTION in System Settings Menu.

'mount directory'= It is the name and path of directory you created for mounting the partition. It normally resides inside the /mnt directory. Example are:

/mnt/ntfs_c
/mnt/ntfs_d

If you get some problem or your problem is solved please notify.

Thanks
Take Care
