Sound problem with kernel 2.6.5 and OSS

Hi I am having problems with sound on redhat 9. The exact problem is that when i login after Linux boots up I get "/dev/dsp - no such device" error and sound doesnt work. But when I logout and then login again I dont get the message and sound works fine!

I think the sound module isnt getting loaded when I login for the first time because when I login for the first time and run XMMS, it gives an error to check my soundcard configuration. But when I run KDE's soundcard configuration utility, it detects my card correctly and plays the test sound correctly. When I run XMMS 1.2.9 immediately it works perfectly!

I am using Redhat 9.0, ESS Solo soundcard, Kernel 2.6.5 and I am using OSS(though I know ALSA is better =P).

Ok, heres an update. My suspicion was correct. Now everytime I boot up my PC in Linux I have to first run the following command as root:

modprobe esssolo1

How can I load the esssolo1 module automatically on boot up?

Ok, I solved the problem by putting the following line in /etc/rc.local (which has a symlink to /etc/rc.d/rc.local)

modprobe esssolo1

[edit] Though I like this forum a lot I am appalled that no one replied to my question =*(
