Snapshotting in RHEL3

Hello, I'm running red hat linux enterprise 3 and I am looking into a snapshotting system (similar to fssnap for solaris). I was wondering if anyone knew of any system to help me get started.

If you are using LVMs, then look at the -s option for lvcreate. Snapshot the logical volumes and then use the snapshots for backup purposes.

The LVM snapshot concept is explained in Section 3.8 “Snapshots” of the LVM HowTo: http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/doc...#snapshotintro

A practical example is given in Section 13.4 "Taking a Backup Using Snapshots" of the LVM HowTo: http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/doc...apshots_Backup
