Scientific Linux Install DVD- just a quick question for anyone?
I'm about to finish getting the 4 GB iso of the most recent Scientific Linux but can someone indeed confirm it should be a bootable image or is it just going to be a data image for later adding on to perhaps the Live CD?
I am posting here as it's very close, if you will, to Red Hat. But anyone? Thanks.
It's the real deal for sure if you downloaded from an official source. Which one did you get? The two DVDs that say EVERYTHING in their name or the Install DVD? I've gotten the Install DVD and installed what I needed later on with yum.
I got the 2nd one that is listed here: http://distrowatch.com/?newsid=07083 but it is also an RC but I don't care; I've heard great things from people on this one. I'm actually about to try and install it to my USB with Ubuntu USB Creator... but anyway, did you say that there are two DVD's of software out there? If so I just got one. No, I tried the Live CD last year and it wasn't much to look at in terms of software but this newest install DVD is going to be kewl!
If you paste the link you've used to download from and delete the name of the iso that'll lead you to this URL: http://ftp2.scientificlinux.org/linu....2/x86_64/iso/, where you'll find the three images I've mentioned.
SL is indeed a pretty neat clone of RHEL. It works great.
