SATA with Redhat AS4

Hi,
I have a Proliant DL320 G3 with 2x 250 Gb SATA Disks to configure in RAID1. The disks are recognized with Windows 2003 but not with Linux Redhat A.S 4. The driver on site are for Smart Array, U320 Scsi or SAS HBA adapter, and not for SATA nor Ultra ATA controller.
Anybody can help ?

Unfortunely No version of Redhat or clone supports sata install as I know of. There are a few tricks.
1. Set the bios to pata mode or pio mode or something.
2. This is the way I installed to a sata a year ago.

Both about the same info. I belive there is needed module for that controller is in the default latest 2.6.15 kernels. More than likely you will need to build a new kernel before setting back to sata mode. I had a similar issue with RedHat RHEL4 Server. The solution I was given from RedHat Support was the Update 2 distribution has the SATA driver for installation. I re-installed using the update 2 ISO without any issue.

I succeeded using RH ES4 instaed of RH AS4, but the problem now is that I configure the RAID1 with CTL+A at teh beginning but when installing I see 2 drive sda and sdb. Is there a problem with RAID configuration on internal controllers (in mother board), how can I secure data ? How to use RAID at linux level ?

This might help. Not Raid person but I think they are still sda and sdb and when joined they become another type of dev block.
