I have to setup a server (rackmount 1U).
Server Spec:
board Supermicro (p4 3.0ht)
with 2 SATA drive (on ICH5 controler).
i have a copy of the lastest beta of redhat enterprise (kernel 2.6.8.1) and
my 2 drives has been detected without any problem.
My problem is: i dont know how i should setup my partition if i want to use the "bios software raid" (intel ich5). In the past (ataraid + ide + redhat7.3), the OS saw only one (scsi) drive, and the driver copy on both drive.
Now, i saw 2 drive (?). Should i manually setup a raid (/dev/md), in this case, in not sure if the bios will copy datas on both drive, but i think its linux who will do the copy.
Is there anyway to activate the bios raid?
I read a lot of interresting think on the website 4elements.4mg.com (sorry, i cannot use url tag), like:
Quote:

SATA/RAID for TYAN Motherboards - ICH5r, Silicon Image, and RAID Drivers (For RedHat, but works for others...):

But redhat ES dont ask for driver (because it detect both drive successfully)
And also this link

If you run a 2.6.X kernel and want Raid, go here for summaries or source. (Part of 2.6 kernel):
DMRaid (v. 1.0.0-rc2) Announcement, and SOURCE and/or RPM

But i dont know how to use this RPM if i dont know how to setup my partition. Maybe i should boot on one drive, install RHES with my favorite partion setup, and after, install this rpm, and activate raid-1?
I did a lot of searchs (on google and linuxquestion), all results are about "how to detect sata harddisk" (which its not a problem for me).
PS: my english is not very good, please dont flame me
