There is no support for this distribution any more. You are strongly urged to install a more up-to-date distro. If you like RH9, may I suggest fedora or CentOS. If you have some overwhelming reason to use this distro, please let us know so we can direct you to a distro which will meet your needs better. The puzzle is that you have f7 already... so what is the problem? |

1. I have f7 already, but it is in my laptop 2. some of my applications are in desktop pc , which require complicated settings, are running in that RHL 9.0 system. I cant format the system suddenly for some reasons. If there is easy way to solve the problem in RHL 9.0, I can take breathing time to gradually switch over to latest distros thanx |
Have you tried running the commands from a terminal and seeing what errors occur? If you haven't already I'd suggest doing that. The messages should give clues as to the problem.
If your box is network/internet connected, is it up to date with security fixes/patches etc? Since 9 is so old you need to be sure your stuff is safe. |

This is the way forward for you - I understand your caution, however: anything else is a trap. Quote:
You can use those. They are more reliable anyway. In waht way do the guis not work? (They don't appear? They hang? They appear but you cannot click anything? They print rude messages on the screen? What?) Have the guis ever worked? The guis run scripts which, in turn, run the various CLI utilities. Try dragging a menu item to the desktop, so you get a launcher. Rt-click the launcher and select "properties". In the properties dialog, there should be a box showing you the command that is executed (amongst other things). Type that command into a terminal and hit enter... see what happens. |
