Rhel Ws

Hi,

I have installed RHEL WS on my computer as one of my ES CD was corrupt. Now is it possible to install the packages, that are not there with the WS version, from the ES CD e.g. caching-nameserver etc. on the WS kernel?

Also, is there any difference in the kernel of both versions?

Tnx

Hi
Of course it is possible to install the missing packages or even better you install their updates. Register at Redhat Network and retrieve the missing packages.

Hi jdogpc,

Tnx for clearing my doubt. In regards to kernel, what i mean was if i install the missing packages then do i have to recompile the kernel also or not? Say if i install caching-nameserver then do i have to make changes in kernel of my WS to make it a DNS server?

problem resolved.....one cannot use WS as DNS server by just installing the bind package. Service will not start/restart or stop. I reinstalled the ES, used 3 CD of WS, and lo..all is working fine now.
