RHEL upgrade from 5.1 to 6.7

Hi,

We use currently RHEL 5.1 on virtual machine (VMWare).
Is it technically possible to upgrade from version 5.1 of RHEL to 6.7 ?
Thanks a lot

I might be a good idea to try a reinstallation.

Red Hat does not support in-place upgrading to a new major version.

contact redhat sales and buy the REQUIRED license / support contract

RHEL is not free

you need to buy the required support contract
if you do not , then basically you can not install software

if you are NOT going to pay for the required contract, then do not use RHEL !!!
there are NO!!! "if's and's or but's" on that !!!

as above
you can not up[grade between RHEL5 and 6

now 6.6 to 6.7 IS supported

so do a now clean install with 6.7
or use the CURRENT version
RHEL 7.1

Hi,
thanks for the reply, i know of course that RHEL is not free and that licenses are required, it's obvious don't worry.
But it means that for a production platform complete reinstallation of all software products is necessary, and for database export/import of data.

that is WHY redhat has a 10 YEAR!!!! life cycle

rhel5.11 has about 5 more years of support ( nov. of 2020 it goes END OF LIFE )

RHEL 5 --> RHEL 6 upgrade is not possible. RHEL 6 --> RHEL 7 is possible.
