RHEL 5 next major kernel update

Hey guys,

Does anyone know when RedHat is planning to release next major kernel update? We need some features of 2.6.20+ kernel. It's been using 2.6.18 for awhile now.

Thank you in advance!

Check out the knowledge base http://www.redhat.com/, or contact your RHEL support rep.

RHEL/Centos 5 will be using a 2.6.18 based kernel for its entire life cycle. It will never be "upgraded" to a 2.6.20+ kernel. Instead RH back patches the older kernel to include a lot of the newer feature and virtually all the security patches. Current kernel is 2.6.18-128.1.10 (essentially the 128th major variant of their 2.6.18 kernel). More than likely the features you need are in this "older" kernel. But TBOne is right, contact your RH rep to clarify.
