RH9-WinXP printing multiple pages problem
SO, after long searching in forums i finally must ask for help.
I have setup small Redhat Linux 9 network, with samba instaled. 10 PCs are running RH9 and one is WindowsXP for compatibility with old files. My problem is printing. Two weeks I was wondering how to print over network /first I hooked printer to RH9 PC and shared it - no luck, all seemed OK, printer showed up in gnome-print monitor but documents just stand in line on networked PCs and never finally printed anything/. Then I decided I will install printer on WinXP machine. After Win installation I setup HP 6MP also on RH9 PCs, manually choosed location to Win-shared printer and it just works. Main problem is: when users open their MS office documents in Openoofice 1.0.2 /supplied on RH9 install CD/ and want to print whole document, this printing job is going crazy. Sometimes it prints whole document /for example 5 pages/ and sometimes it prints only one page. Even if I manually choose PAGES: 2-5, or 1,2,3,4,5 - it doesn't work, only first page is printed. I did this printing test on all PCs with various documents and its always the same - once I got 5 pages and sometimes just one. Its really strange behaviour and I cant find the reason behind this mysterious thing... Its real pain for me, because its only one small problem of maybe 100 more I encountered while I migrate all machines to Linux. I am using Linux successfully over 2 years, but just now I see, how such little things could spoil all the good I was talking to my -dear- users about Linux. Any help is appreciated, I must setup it ASAP because -they- will force me to go back to Win98 clients and you know, I hate that virus problems. Thank you all ! I'd have to guess its a problem with the printer being on a Windows share going thru Samba for the Linux boxes. Have you tried to configure this printer on one of the Linux machines, setup as a print server and see if it does the same thing?
