Unhappy RH9 does not play sound at after login in KDE and GNOME

Hi I am using RH9, GNOME or KDE and a SBLive!.
Although I have enabled system sounds and events in both KDE and GNOME,
RH9 does not play any sound at boot after login, while plays during the session (closing,
opening windows) and at shutdown.
BTW I have tried knoppix based on KDE and plays sound after login.
is there any setup to be done ?
Anyone with the same problem ?

Don't think I'm qualified to provide much help, but re: SB Live!...

I've read somewhere that there's a special version of that card--completely digital or a different chip from regular SB Live! or something--that gives Linux folks fits. Not my soundcard, so I didn't concern myself too much, but it's worth looking into if you aren't getting anywhere.

Good luck.

Ciao ciao and hope this helps you.

Unhappy RE:Harp00

Ciao Harp00.

#
# inittab This file describes how the INIT process should set up
# the system in a certain run-level.
#
# Author: Miquel van Smoorenburg, <miquels@drinkel.nl.mugnet.org>
# Modified for RHS Linux by Marc Ewing and Donnie Barnes
#

# Default runlevel. The runlevels used by RHS are:
# 0 - halt (Do NOT set initdefault to this)
# 1 - Single user mode
# 2 - Multiuser, without NFS (The same as 3, if you do not have networking)
# 3 - Full multiuser mode
# 4 - unused
# 5 - X11
# 6 - reboot (Do NOT set initdefault to this)
#

Ciao.

I have been thru documentation and I have found that should be gnome-session (called by Xsession) to startup sound during gnome splash screen, but it won't.
I have managed to alter the init script files to obtain a Knoppix like boot, with the female voice that says 'Starup Sequence initiated'....after login, but still no Gnome sound during splash.
If interested I can copy my init files nad procedure.

- Ciao
